Good to know

The house is nestled into the trees on the side of a ridgeline at 3,000 feet elevation. There are neighboring houses, but with large lots and lots of trees, it feels secluded and private. The only traffic on the road are the occupants of the other homes. We own the lot on the other side of the road, which offers creek access. The main floor is the upper level. You'll ascend a wooden staircase to get there. You enter in the center of the house, which is the living area. There are two bedrooms on opposite sides of the floor with ensuite baths. Each bedroom also has its own door to the porch. One bedroom has a king-sized bed. The other has a queen and twin beds. In between the two bedrooms is a large living/dining area, a well-stocked kitchen, and a laundry room with a half bath make up the rest of the main floor. There is a desk for those that need to get some work done. The porch is large and has two swings, two rocking chairs, and a seating area. As you sit on the porch, you'll enjoy a beautiful, short-range mountain view to the West. The ridge you will see in front of you is part of Sheepback Mountain. If you're there at sunset and twilight, you'll see the sunset colors over the ridge. You'll hear the wind blowing through the leaves and the sound of water in the cascading creek down at the road. It's beautiful and peaceful, and our guests can't get enough of it. On the ground floor near the staircase, you'll find two grills. One is propane. The other charcoal. On the deck on the ground floor, you'll find the hot tub. While the view is not as grand as the upstairs porch, it's still a nice view, and it's a lovely setting with the trees in front of you. If you walk to the southside of the house, you'll find a fire pit with plenty of seating. You'll have trees on three sides of you, and the house on the other. You have privacy, but you can also see the short-range mountain views to the West. If you walk down our driveway and turn right and walk thirty yards, you'll see a wooden staircase descending to the creek. We own this lot and have built this staircase and deck for our guests' use. You'll find some seating to enjoy the sights and sounds of the beautiful, cascading creek. It's lovely!

Other Details to Note

Cell service is limited here in the mountains. We do have a cell signal booster. If you find that is still not sufficient, we suggest turning on wifi calling in your phone settings. The house has a well. The water is probably the best you've ever tasted.

We really enjoyed our stay at this home. The drive up the mountain wasn't bad at all, so you don't need a four wheel drive. It snowed while we were there, but the road was plowed and salted early in the morning and the road down was fine. We would definitely stay here again.

My husband and I enjoyed a nice weekend away in the mountains. Brantley's home was cozy and we felt right at home. The hot tub was fantastic on the chilly nights and mornings.

We had an amazing stay here for our first family vacation. First, we stayed the week of Christmas and they decorated for us which made the stay so much more magical for our small children and felt so homey. My husband and I read on the porch every morning and you can hear the sound of the creek below the property, so relaxing. The town is super cute and there are amazing hiking trails which we did all week. The hosts left great instructions with his favorite hiking locations which was super helpful. Our favorite was Pinnacle trail (difficult but worth it), high falls (beautiful waterfall), and the Oconaluftee River trail (if you get there before 8am you will see elk everywhere!) Everything was 10/10 we will be back. Bonus: Stocked kitchen, host left plenty of toiletries and household necessities (dish soap, laundry pods, COFFEE etc) above and beyond!!

This mountain-view cabin has everything you need for a perfect getaway in the Smokies. From the amenities, like the charcoal grill, hot tub, and the cozy setup around the fire pit, to the fire table upstairs on the deck, where you can sit outside on a cold day, enjoy coffee, and take in the mountain views while listening to the creek below. We especially loved the coffee setup and the ample storage in the closets and bathrooms. The cabin’s location is also ideal—close to both the Smoky Mountains on one side and Asheville on the other. We couldn’t have asked for a better time at your cabin and can definitely see ourselves coming back and recommending it to others.
